Freebird’s Director of Operations, Jack Tanner Receives WTHI’s “Make a Difference Award”

FreeBird’s Director of Operations Receives WTHI’s “Make a Difference” Award.

On Monday, September 20, 2010, Jack Tanner was presented with the “Make a Difference Award”.  WTHI sponsors the award for the Wabash Valley. Pat Creasey, a volunteer at Freebirds, nominated Jack for the award.

Pat is thankful for the opportunity Freebirds gives to individuals wanting to change. She states Jack is the same age her son would have been if there had been a Freebirds twenty years ago.  Pat has volunteered at the Center for two years and has been a tremendous help with media relations.

Jack has given 100% to Freebirds from the very beginning. He is one of the founders of the Center and has lived full time at the facility since December 2004.He has volunteered over 13,000 hours. He works a full time program not only for himself but is a mentor to many others in recovery. When asked how he felt about receiving the award, Jack very humbly stated it takes everyone working together to make a difference. Jack’s dedication makes a difference not only in the lives of individuals here at Freebirds but in our entire community. What a difference FreeBirds is making in God’s Kingdom.

Thank-you Wabash Valley for providing all the linens we need for our 16 new beds.  The beds are built and in use now.  16 more men and women have hope for recovery and a safe place to recover.

Freebirds adding beds to aid recovery

A Wabash Valley facility to help people recovering from alcohol and drug addictions prepares to expand. It comes as two other similar places have closed for good in the last three months.

The work of building beds continues, one board at a time. Each bed built means one more recovering addict who can build his or her life into something meaningful.
